“I make more money as a prostitute than you do as a police officer”

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Jessica M. Powell, 19, was arrested for prostitution by Framingham officers and then started to brag how she made more money then they did.

“She said, I make more money as a prostitute than you do as a police officer,’ ” Lt. Paul Shastany said.

Powell was arrested with two other “customers” along Waverley Street on Monday around 7:30 p.m. Officers were waiting in an unmarked car when they saw Powell walking up and down the street. At one point, two men, later identified as Francisco Barrios and Mario Escobedo, pulled up in a car and blew the horn. She got in, and they drove off, he said.

“After speaking with her, she said she didn’t know the names of either of the two men,” said Shastany. “She said he (Barrios) had called her on her cell phone to arrange sex for money. She said she has had sexual conduct for money on several occasions.”

Powell said she typically arranged her “dates” over the phone, and her customers would pass out her cell phone number to other potential customers, expanding her customer base by word-of-mouth, Shastany said (we guess eBay was next on her list).
