Women Talk Shi… erm … More Than Men
Tuesday, November 28th, 2006
“Women have an eight-lane superhighway for processing emotion, while men have a small country road,” said Dr Brizendine, who runs a female “mood and hormone” clinic in San Francisco (yeh, that’s why they need a clinic).
In her book, Dr Luan Brizendine describes how inherent differences explain why women speak, on average, 20,000 words a day; 13,000 more than the average man. She doesn’t, however, specify whether most of those 20,000 words are actually random sounds or some sort of mating call to monkeys in the Congo.
“Girls arrive already wired as girls, and boys arrive already wired as boys. Their brains are different by the time they’re born, and their brains are what drive their impulses, values and their very reality.
“I know it is not politically correct to say this but I’ve been torn for years between my politics and what science is telling us.
“I believe women actually perceive the world differently from men.
“If women attend to those differences they can make better decisions about how to manage their lives.”
According to the Dr, talking triggers a release chemicals in the brain that provide a rush similar to heroin addicts on a high. This would also explain why they sound like they’re on crack too.
However, we at Neebone like to do our homework too. So here’s some debunking and a statement from Deborah Cameron, an Oxford University linguistics professor:”If you aggregate a large number of studies you will find there is little difference between the amount men and women talk.”.
Long ass story @ Daily Mail (written by a women don’t you know)
